Baby someday we will pull the strings
Hold the cards (all the cards)
I wanna be full of the angles
I wanna be free of the tangles
Call the shots and be what we are not now
They’re in black armor with their boots and guns
By Federal Hall, under Washington
It’s no one’s fault, what our city’s become
‘Cept for these new guns I’m ducking from
Another innocent’s been taken away
They searched my bag only yesterday
We lose our power and our reason too
In the name of freedom
When they come for you
A lazy Friday, New York harbor calms
The dogs in the terminal are sniffing for bombs
As a beautiful lady is detained by the guards
Who, proud of the animals, love their jobs
Downtown heads for Staten Island at five
And the Coast Guard guarantees we’ll get there alive
With machine guns at the stern and bow
New York City is a dream to me now
I know what I wanted, I know what I got
Despite my best intentions, it's still happening a lot
I’ve seen great ignorance and failures of man
I’ve seen injustice called American
There's a dirty secret beneath each happiness
Behind every sure thing, is a long shot bet
But we’re not the only ones who really care
There is no answer to a victim's prayer
